Meat Associate

 

Overview
We are Savannah's fastest growing Meat Market. Help us provide the best service experience for our neighbors.

Duties
- Gather and wrap meats that our customers order.
- Assist in food preparation tasks as needed
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with patrons and answering questions about the meat offerings

- Help restock and unload delivery trucks.

Qualifications

- Strong customer service skills to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner

Responsibilities include: 


  • Helping customers
  • Answering questions and taking orders in person and on phone while taking pertinent customer information.
  • Restocking cases
  • Putting away inventory which includes lifting cases 40-80 lbs.
  • Maintaining clean work areas by cleaning
  • Create positive customer experiences with each and every interaction

Essential Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time, up to 8-10 hours.
  • Bending, stooping, climbing.
  • Mental and physical dexterity.
  • Unassisted heavy lifting. Assisted heavy lifting and pulling.
  • Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
  • Work in varying temperatures (coolers, freezers, etc. when needed).
  • Wet and dry conditions.
  • Cold conditions.
  • Use of box cutters and Knives as you progress through the apprenticeship. 


Team member #2

Counter and front of store-- parttime--- no experience required. Must be willing to work Friday and Saturday 10am-6pm. Pay is based on experience and has opportunity to improve with proven diligence.  Description: This is one of our most important jobs. You will be directly serving all of our customers and be the face of our business/family. With a happy heart and a big smile you will serve customers by getting the items/deals that they want. Answer any questions they may have and/or help them to the car if needed. You will work as a team with the rest of the Ogeechee Family for fast and precise service for everyone that walks in the door. You are charged to keep everything clean and stocked so everyone that walks in the door gets the Ogeechee Experience. 

Other job requirements: When not helping customers/teammates we are cleaning and restocking.  Restocking includes refilling pans with meat so as to present them in the proper manner. Moving cases of meat that are as small as 40 lbs. and as heavy as 80 lbs. to proper locations in cooler or to aid in restocking retail cases. Cleaning is wiping, sanitizing surfaces, cleaning equipment, sweeping floors, mopping floors, cleaning smokers, cleaning restrooms, wiping/cleaning walls and fixtures, dusting, etc. We are a mom and pop organization and everyone pitches in. "If you've got time to lean you've got time to clean" Every night there is a ritual of in depth cleaning and putting meats away in coolers. If you have any questions feel free to contact us. Butcher Apprentice 

 Work and get paid while learning a new trade. The apprenticeship is a 3 year program that starts with you working the counter and learning everything meat. You will gradually be given more responsibilities and duties as you work into your second year that will start your cutting experience. After year two you will take the apprentice test, after passing you will work hand and hand with the master butchers to become proficient at cutting, proper display, case and meat management. At the end of the year three you are giving a written and oral exam to show your sales, knowledge and proficiency in cutting. Raises come in the program with proven ability and helpfulness. We only accept one candidate a year.
